It is suggested that patients should be seen for a dental cleaning and routine exam every 6 months or as recommended by their dentist. During the cleaning, plaque and calculus will be removed from your teeth leaving behind a bright and polished smile.
Dental x-rays are a great preventive, diagnostic tool that provides important information not visible during a regular dental exam. Our dental team will utilize this important information to safely and accurately detect any dental abnormalities and then create a treatment plan if necessary.
Crowns become necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or has suffered from advanced decay and cannot be bonded or filled. Crowns will cover the remaining portion of the tooth and restore its function, strength, and esthetics. Several crown material options are available and will be thoroughly discussed with you if the need should arise.
Bridges can be utilized when tooth loss occurs due to gum disease, decay, or injury. The loss of the tooth can create greater problems for your overall dental health. The tooth next to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain, discomfort, and may even look unsightly. With bridges, our doctors will close those gaps in your mouth, stopping the pain and discomfort. The bridge looks and acts just like natural teeth and is permanently cemented to help maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.
To get the most radiant and vibrant smile, we offer efficient and safe teeth whitening services. The effects of coffee, smoking, tea, and others like them can cause tooth discoloration. Our whitening will combat the discoloration and leave behind a beautiful white smile.
A Root canal is needed when a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth causing an infection of the nerve, or when severe trauma has affected the tooth. Once the pulp has become infected, it must be treated to avoid further issues since it cannot heal by itself. Some signs that a pulp is infected include sensitivity to hot or cold foods or liquids, pain, swelling, or even a bad taste in the mouth. For some patients no symptoms are obvious and they are unaware a problem even exists until they are seen by their dentist for an exam.
A denture is a removable dental appliance that serves as a replacement for missing teeth and surrounding gum tissue. A denture is made to resemble your natural teeth as closely as possible and may even enhance your smile.
There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing and partial dentures are used when some of your natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.
A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed. This usually takes around 4 to 6 weeks, during which time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the multi-week healing process. Due to normal wear, dentures may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted.
Dental implants are an excellent alternative to traditional bridgework and dentures. Implants are not only safe, but they look and feel just like natural teeth. They are permanently anchored into the patient's jawbone and no preparation of the adjacent teeth is required. Replacing the missing teeth is important because if left with spaces, your teeth can shift and cause a variety of other medical problems. Implants do require several visits and can take months to complete.
Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells that your dentist uses to improve the appearance of your smile. He will bond the veneers to the surfaces of the teeth to correct certain dental flaws. Your porcelain veneers are customized for a perfect fit and natural appearance.
